Did you get out and enjoy the long weekend, if you were lucky
enough to get the extra day off?
I managed to get some overdue work done. Cutting, raking and
burning some old brush I should have done earlier this year.
I don't like all that raking twigs/limbs and old leaves but things
look nice around the home again.
Kind of like doing this internet marketing thing. The site building, searching for info stuff and creating good ads. But, you don't get
anywhere if you don't do it. Once it's done though, updates are
not so bad or take very long.
If you are putting things off because it seems like you'll never get anywhere and find times you get stuck at what to do next, get
bored or frustrated, remember, you are not the only one. Anybody
making any money at all online goes through the same thing.
It takes work. Plain and simple. The best advice I can give you if
you want to succeed is to learn HTML. At least enough to be able
to add products, graphics and create a sales page. You should
learn enough to be able to build a complete website even if you
use pre-built website templates. At some point you'll have to
make some changes anyway, so take the time to learn how to
do it. You'll never be sorry.
Oh I know, you will see things that say NO site needed, etc., but
that's only a half truth. It really depends on who you want to make
money for. The program seller or for you?
Relying on safelist, free list building programs, classified ads and
click for hits won't make you a living. You won't build a list either
if you have no way of capturing names or giving people some kind
of real information and a place to go get it.
Think about it. Every affiliate program you promote has a WEBSITE
behind it. Yet, they tell you that you don't need one. If you want
to make 100 bucks a year for you and a small fortune for them,
then by all means go for it. Have you been promoting for a year,
or 2 or 3 using the above methods with no website of your own?
Are you independantly wealthy yet? Then you know why it isn't
working out for you. THEY are happy with you, though.
This is not to say you can't make money using the above methods,
because you can if you have a place of your own (website) and
drive the traffic there first. You want people to go through you
first, to make them an offer before you send them somewhere else.
At the very least capture their name and email for future referrence.
That way, you have a chance at selling something else later on.
In fact, you could offer a bonus for going through your site, or
offering a companion product as an upsell. You see, it takes the
same amount of time to promote a product whether the link goes
to the affiliate owner or to your website. So why give all your
time away for peanuts?
Besides, sending out raw affiliate links scream loudly you are not
a pro, semi pro or anything but a newbie. Using links like tinyurl.com
etc. tell the world it's probably an affiliate link. By using raw
affiliate links your sales will suffer as many people will just
bypass your link, buy the product under their own affiliate link
and cut you out of any commission you might have made. How
are you going to make any money that way? With your own site,
a simple re-redirect link can be used to not look like an affiliate
link and it also brands your website so it's recognizable again
in the future. In other words, like I use as do many others some
type of link cloaking like this:

Easy to do, too. You do not need some fancy software to do that.
Just create a new folder named 'recommends' inside your 'public_html'
folder, inside that folder make another named 'whatever', open that
folder and create a new file named 'index.html' with the correct
affiliate link inside the .html file and promote it. Actually, the
code to use, once you have created the two folders and the index.html
file is this: click 'edit' to edit the index.html file inside the
'whatever' folder and replace that with the following,

Pretty simple, and didn't cost you a thing. Now, with that set up, you
can simply use that re-direct link in any ad, even an email by using
the link http://www.ezincomemakers.com/recommends/whatever
and it will re-direct to the correct web page. Your affiliate link
is not exposed. This is why learning some simple HTML code will
always help you out. When you post a link on a web page use this
code to hide the link from showing up in the task bar when someone
runs their mouse the link:
Not always needed with a re-direct link as above, but I got in the habit
of using it for practically every link I post. You don't always use a re-
direct so it's nice to use in those cases.
You could do the same thing without a 'recommends' folder to shorten
the overall link by just adding one folder called 'whatever' in your
'public_html' folder, but you'll soon really clutter up your whole
public_html folder. A re-direct makes changing a link to a new site
easy, too. Maybe your affiliate site moves, the program changes your
link altogether or simply goes away, then your advertised links are
all worthless. Just go back into the original index.html file and replace
your old link with the new one. Now, all the old links will still point
to the right program. Depending on what you named the folder, it
could point to a completey new web page with all your old links,
where ever they were placed, and you'll still be in a position to
earn through them.
Want to track your links? Use a differently named folder and your
referring links will show up each link, i.e. as from:
http://www.ezincomemakers.com/recommends/whatever
or the second link:
http://www.ezincomemakers.com/uses/whatever
Here is another good tip, or advice if you will. Chasing every gurus
new product launch will get you NO WHERE real fast. Have you noticed
all the stuff that came out in just the past 2 weeks? That happens all
the time. Week after week. Take the latest, the Stompernet thing. Did
you, as I have, received 50 emails on it? I don't have it, don't need it and am not promoting it. As with many other HOT NEW PRODUCT
promising you the world, it isn't worth a darn to 99.9% of the folks
out there. Not saying it isnt a good product, just saying it isn't
good for most people. They don't really care if you use it or not,
they are after the commissions (your money).
Next week, there will be another BIG must have product launch. Not
only that, if you are following all the big name gurus, you are on
their mailing list, you'll be reading email all night and not getting
your work done. By that, my point is, forget all that stuff. Your job
is to get online first, get a site set up and if it takes 3 months,
or 6 months, so be it.
If you want a life on the internet, to make real money, then take your
life back. Do whatever you need to do first in order to set up your own business. After that, in 3 months, six months or whatever it takes you,
then you'll be ready to play the game and have a chance at making real money instead of an affiliate payment 2 or 3 times a year.
Really, you won't miss a thing! There is no shortage of MUST HAVE new
products being thrown out every other day. Spending all your time reading
through all those emails looking for the magic bullet (that does not exist)
is a sure way to fail. In fact, you'll never get started because your time
is wasted on worthless junk instead of building your business.
If that means leaving my newsletter, OK. I'd rather see you trying to
make your dreams come true than spending time chasing a dream into
never-never land.
Go for the GOLD, not just an affiliate payment 2 or 3 times a year.
To do that, you need to build a system that connects multiple ways
of generating income and getting the traffic back to your offers. It
all takes time, but that time must be spent on your business, not in
chasing the latest program and looking for one that will make you rich.

Way too many to list here, and I know I don't
have them all listed. Right now it's wild with
so many going at once.
As a matter of fact, I'm not sure how much longer
I will even participate as a contributor in them.
Sure, I get new subscribers, links back to my site
and all, but when I read the stats - how few members
have been in the last events, it isn't worth being
told I don't do enough to build some owner/promoters
list - and don't worry about mine - just pay to
upgrade then promote like crazy. Right, like I'm
going all out to pay for the honor of getting them
a big list while I'm getting nothing because I don't
have 100 points to show my gift.
I think these things are dying off very quickly.
I refuse to pay, as it's cheaper to get hosting and
throw a website up and giving away the same things
to visitors who ARE interested. Besides, my own site
will be up for years, not one, two or three weeks for
the same money.
With the number going on right now, it would cost
over a hundred bucks to buy your way in, only to get
a very tiny return - either sales or new subscribers.
Add it up and it's cheaper to run a PPC campaign over
a years time pointing to your own websites.
At first, they worked very well, but now, my time
will be better spent devoting it to my own business.
Not some one elses.

Affiliate Marketing Leads.
Once you get into affiliate marketing, you will find that one of the
concerns you will have to focus on is building your leads. Leads
often come in the form of e-mail addresses, behind which are real
people with very real potential to become your customers, subscribers
or members. Having a solid list of leads assures that you will be
able to reach a ready market and start generating an income.
The importance of affiliate marketing leads.
Companies with a product or service to sell spend billions of dollars
on advertising alone. The purpose of spending such a huge amount
of cash is mainly to build a buzz about a product, expand the
market and ultimately, bring in better sales.
In affiliate marketing, the cost of advertising is comparatively small
and is paid for by the affiliate company. So as an affiliate, that is
no longer your concern. Your only job is to look for a market to
promote to that will respond to you positively so you can earn an
income in return.
Unlike in a real world business, this market will come in the form of affiliate marketing leads. The quality of these leads, along with the
type and number of positive responses they offer will determine
whether or not you'll succeed in affiliate marketing. If you hear
someone say, 'the money is in the list', he or she is actually
referring to the list of leads. Without this, you cannot hope to
sell anything, much less earn any income.
Building your affiliate marketing leads.
It's not rocket science, true, but affiliate marketing can be tricky nevertheless. It's a proven business model and many affiliates have
had considerable success in their chosen programs. However, like all
businesses, there are also certain factors upon which your success
in building your list of affiliate marketing leads rest. Consider these factors carefully:
* Your reputation.
As a new affiliate marketer, you will find that it will take a while
before you can build your affiliate marketing leads. All new marketers
have gone through this. No exceptions. Gaining a decent number of
leads to market to will not happen overnight.
To attract a solid list of affiliate marketing leads, you will have
to become a recognized business entity in the industry. Without
a reputation, potential leads will find it difficult to trust you
or at least do business with you. Faced with a choice between
buying from a popular marketer versus an unfamiliar one, wouldn’t
you rather buy from the person you know than from a total stranger?
The same is true with your affiliate marketing leads. They will need
to recognize you as a reliable merchant or affiliate before they agree
to buy, participate or become one of your recruits.
* Web traffic.
Another key element that affects the number of affiliate marketing
leads you can obtain is the amount of traffic your site receives.
A high web traffic figure is beneficial in two ways – it allows you
to obtain comparatively larger affiliate accounts and increases
your potential of building a bigger number of affiliate marketing
leads.
Without a good amount of traffic to your website, you might have to
either focus on using strategies to build it first or join a networking service offering affiliate programs instead. Probably the quickest way
to get that web traffic is through the use of Pay Per Click (PPC) by
a service such as Google Adwords. Certainly not a free option, but if
you watch carefully what you are doing, it will pay off.
* The affiliate product.
There are two things that affect how well you can build your affiliate marketing leads. One is the product's value and the other is how well
you yourself understand the product.
The choice of an affiliate product is critical to every affiliate. An affiliate product that has a proven or at least a potential for good
sales will be far easier to promote and generate an income from. It
will also make it easier for an affiliate to build leads with, since prospects will be more willing to respond to it.
A good understanding of what makes the affiliate product attractive
and valuable enough is also key to attracting more leads. Being able
to explain why and how a product works on your website or in articles,
for example, will help you sell it better, especially when compared
to other products competing for the same market.
* The niche or target market.
One common concern among affiliates is market saturation – that
point in time when a specific segment of the market becomes flooded
with the same (or at least similar) products and services. So much
so that it becomes increasingly difficult to sell, much less to
convince prospective buyers to consider the product or service
you're trying to promote.
You can avoid this, however, by focusing on generating affiliate marketing leads from specifically targeted segments of the market
or niches. Consider selling or promoting products that appeal to
a specific group of people who have a common yet largely unmet
need. Competition for this market is relatively low and with the
right kind of strategies, you'll find that this niche can be
especially lucrative.
