Good day to you.

I hope everything is as good as can be for you.
I can't complain, not that anyone would listen anyway.

Still thinking about the future of this newsletter
with no clear decision yet. I like doing it but it is
time consumimg. Open rates are dropping, and with
summer coming it will drop off more as we all have
more interesting and fun things to do.

Maybe I'll just revive my old blog and send out short
updates when something wortwhile comes along.

I've not been very excited about most of the 'junk'
that has been released in recent times, but then it
might be just me. Most of the stuff I wouldn't take
for free, let alone try to get others to 'buy'.

Like Giveaways, I give them up, as there are too many
of them all handing out the same products over and
over. They were good at first, but I sure wouldn't
pay to upgrade for what can be had for free. I'll let
you know about them, but that's about it for me. If
nothing else, you can build a library of things to
sell from a web site of your own. I've seen people
who've done that, but don't buy one as a membership
since it's easy enough to make your own. Most hosting
accounts have free templates where you can set one
up without much effort.

Or use them as free gifts on your own free membership
section on your site, that works to help keep people
coming back. (Hint hint). That is, if you can find the
time after checking eveyone's Social but-no-info sites.
Which I still don't have, and that includes Twitter.
I've not seen one yet that I found anything worthwhile
going thru all those comments. I don't care what someone
else did yesterday that gave them a hangover. Maybe I'm
too old fashioned, but I don't see where all that
chit-chat gets me any closer to my goals. And why is it
that it seems it's only a race to see who gets the most
followers?

That's like a huge monster list of freebie seekers,
it may be big in numbers, but what does it do for your
bottom line, your savings account? It's like any other
form of networking, your blog, newsletter/ezine, Social
site or website, if you don't give good information you
are wasting your time. You'd be better off simply selling
thru PayPerClick and leave all that other junk to newbies
and gurus trying to sell to newbies. (Trust me, PPC does
make you more money than socializing your life away).

I'm just not a big believer in wasting my time, that
is something you can't get back or buy!

If you want an Internet business, make one and run it
as a business. If all you want is gossip and poor info
go down to the local barbershop/restaurant and interact
with the busy-bodies of the world. It gets you out of
the house, some excersize by walking in the door and
is better than sitting on your rear-end and reading
about other lazy folks who haven't made a dime.

That's my opinion and I stick by it!

Sorry, but no freebie this time, lucky to even get
as much done for this issue as I got. I still need to
wipe out this computer and start over. I dread it, but
seems I've some hardware issues that I can't get fixed.
Tried about everything I can think of, no luck.

6 Tips For A Good Headline

Writing an effective copy headline is a challenge if you know you are
going to issue a call to action in the end, and that action is something
that people will be initially reluctant to do like subscribing to an
e-newsletter or buying a product. If you want your readers to do something,
you need to convince them right away and starting with the very first
word of your headline.

1) Offer Something Right Away

If you have something to offer to your readers, something they need and
in exchange for what you’re going to ask them to do, make it immediately
clear with your headline. When people start reading something online and
they aren’t actively seeking information, they want to know what they’re
going to get if they continue reading and they want to know what it is
right away.

2) Make It Urgent

People are generally prone to take action if they know they’re running
against time. Create a sense of urgency with your headline by telling
your readers that your offer only stands up to a certain date or that
you’re fast running out of stock. You can also make it a do-or-die offer;
if they let this opportunity slip them by, it’s gone forever.

Take care, however, when using this type of headline as it comes with
certain responsibilities. Make sure you withdraw your offer at the
stated time. If you’re going to extend the deadline, you better have a
good explanation ready so as not to lose your credibility.

3) Keep It Simple and Powerful

Online copies have to be simple and as headlines are a part of the copy,
it stands to reason that they have to be simple as well.

Don’t bother using long and difficult words. They won’t make a bit of
difference if no one comprehends them. Aim for powerful words instead.
These words inspire action and call strong images immediately to mind.
“Make Your Business Live Longer” as a copy headline can be improved,
for instance, if you replace passive-sounding words with forceful ones.
“Make Your Business Survive” has greater impact compared to the
previous headline.

4) Keep It Short

Yet another requirement for online copies is brevity and naturally,
headlines must follow the same rule. As a rule, online readers scan
what they read and consequently, they’ll be able to understand a
five-word-headline more quickly than a ten-word one.

For a good copy headline, try to lessen the use of particles,
prepositions, linking verbs, and other words that won’t make a
difference to your readers.

5) Don’t Try Too Hard

Naturally, funny and witty headlines are better but trying too hard
could backfire on you. If there’s no way to make a headline funny or
clever then leave it simple. If you manage to get your message across
then you’ve done your job.

6) Use Numbers

They are easier to recall and they sound more impressive. Instead of
simply headlining a copy with “Tips for Gardening”, you can substantially
improve it just by adding a digit. “6 Tips for Gardening” encourages people
to read more because they know they have six (more than one’s many!) tips
to look forward to in a single article.

Then - Review and Revise

You may think you’ve made a perfect headline upon typing the last word,
but give it a minute or two and you’ll be able to view it more objectively.
